Comment: The author of this coin was the son of Cornelius Lentulus Spinter, who was Consul in 57 BC. Both father and son were faithful supporters of Pompey and enemies of Caesar who, as was usual for him, after the battle of Pharsalia granted them forgiveness. After the assassination of Caesar he joined the side of the rebels, becoming one of the highest authorities of Brutus and Cassius, he obtained the position of Propraetor and Procuestor, a time in which he minted this denarius with the theme of the obverse of Liberty in reference to the ideal of the rebels. He was executed by joint order of Octavian and Mark Antony after the battle of Philippi. There are different opinions about the mint in which it was minted, the Sardis and Antioch mints are given as mints. This denarius was minted with the Silver obtained from the loot after the triumphs of the rebels in order to be distributed among the troops and in this way celebrate the victories achieved.
