Comment: This denarius, issued in 42 B.C. by Lucio Livineio Regulo, is part of the same commemorative series as the previous piece (Crawford 494/27), dedicated to the memory of his homonymous ancestor, praetor in the early republican era.
In this variant, the modius symbolizes abundance, equity in distribution and good administration, virtues attributed to the magistrate represented on the obverse. The ears reinforce the idea of prosperity and social justice, values associated with the responsible management of public resources.

The general message combines the family tribute with an allusion to prosperity under the republican order, at a time (42 BC) marked by political instability after the assassination of Julius Caesar.
The moneyer thus wanted to highlight the tradition of honor, virtue and public service of the Livineii, presenting his ancestor as a model of just government and guarantor of citizen well-being.
